Caring for Your Fine Jewelry
Small rituals that keep gold and gems luminous for decades.

Fine jewelry is made to be worn — and a few simple habits will keep it looking as it did on the first day. Here is the care routine our jewelers follow themselves.
Last on, first off
Put jewelry on after perfume, hairspray and lotion have dried, and take it off before exercise, cleaning or bathing. Chlorine and abrasives are gold's quiet enemies.
A gentle weekly clean
Soak pieces in lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap, brush softly with a clean make-up brush, rinse and pat dry with a lint-free cloth. Emeralds and pearls only need a soft, dry cloth.
Store pieces separately
Keep each piece in its own pouch or compartment so harder stones cannot scratch pearls and gold. The anti-tarnish strip from our box is there for a reason.
A yearly check-up
Once a year, bring your Fortisola pieces back to us. We tighten stones, re-polish and inspect every joint — complimentary, for the life of the piece.
